What is it?
What is it? MWALCOTT 7/7/09
That startles you in its expectancy
That sneaks up on you.
Lying hidden in the tall weeds of life.
What is it?
That jades us to becoming uncaring and indifferent
That goads us to hate
Trying desperately to act as if we don’t care.
What is it?
That drives us to hate rather than to love?
That motivates us to separate rather than to congregate
Drying us from inside out.
What is it??
It is the essence of life.
The willingness to connect and be connected to
The willingness to be loved, and to love
So simple yet so hard
So easy yet so very far.
Killing us painfully and slowly, yet assuredly and certainly.
