    Two Accounts

    To this honourable court I invite
    Mr Ordinary (MO)
             AND
    Mr Perfect (MP)
    State your case

    I, MO hereby state my case
    I found FIFTY POUNDS
    I was attracted by HER
    I was lured by HER
    To temptation I succumed
    I made love to HER
    I was accused of adultry
              BECAUSE
    I slept with FIFTY POUNDS -
    The WIFE of MR TAXPAYER

    VERDICT, JAILED

    I, MP hereby state my case
    I found SIX THOUSAND POUNDS
    I was attracted by HER
    I was lured by HER
    To temptation I succumed
    I made love to HER
    I was NOT accused of adultery
               BECAUSE
    Though I slept with SIX THOUSAND POUNDS -
    The WIFE of MR TAXPAYER
    In line with the rules I did it

    VERDICT, FREED

    MP EXPENSES

    I understand this one perfectly! Wonderfully and intersting written. I love the way you wrote it as two court cases, not sure it would have made sense otherwise. And you are so very correct in what you are saying in this poem, sadly very correct. Society is run by two separate standards, one for those who have and one for those who have not. Wonderful poem and thank you for sharing it.

    Sorry, I don't get this either. MP did the same thing MO did why did MP get set free? What rules did MP follow? Maybe it is something I would need to know from your country.

    Poems are not prose. Just read in between lines and analyse the imagery used in the poem. Have you heard about the MP expenses scandal in the UK?
