True Love
We seek to experience a rush of emotions
Constantly unaware of the consequences
For that feeling is wild and indescribable
Relentless and uncontrollable
Yet the essence of its existence
Is the fruit we all crave
No sense of smell, nor taste or touch
Can attempt to possess it
For it lingers of its own free will
Escaping all who dare to keep it
Oblivious to selfish needs wants or desires
Slipping violently, yet subtly
Between the spaces of the sealed prisons
It is a gift that brings intangible rewards
Yet the sting of its burn can penetrate your soul
It can be evanescent or everlasting
Its grip can abash even the stubbornly unmoved
Creating tiffs almost unceasingly
Immortality is its forte
It is at the core of hate’s army
And exudes a power that can crush
Even the strongest will
And to seek that understanding
Only breeds utter perplexity
Wasteful tendencies arise when it is sought
Because its origin lies within
The uniqueness of our creation
Unseen but always there
Knocking on the door of our hearts to be released
It is the symbol of our humanity
Often mistaken for desperation or weakness
And though gentle it can ironically manifest these results
Obsession then becomes its game
Forcing the stability of the sane
To misplace all reason
It viciously strips you of all sense that is common
And cleverly and earnestly defies all logic
To fight against it is to sorely lose
Because it always obtains the prize
Without effort nor struggle for gain
Ultimately it captures the very depth of our being
It whispers previews of magic and excitement
Ecstasy unreal putting fairytales to shame
And when you finally taste the sweetness
Of its flavor or the bitterness of its sting
You know your experience will be unprecedented
And all encompassing
You know you have tasted True Love!
