True Friend
I hide all my tears from anyone I knowAll my smiles are just for show.
My parents say I have no heart,
But the truth is that it's fallen apart.
When I'm in my room all alone
That is when my true self is shown.
I cry all my tears
That feel like they've been held in for years.
Sitting on my bed, I finally decide
Not to let my real self hide.
I go to the school the next day
And hear what my friends have to say.
After all is said and done
All my fake friends turn and run.
Strangely, I am happy about all this
For once I truly feel bliss.
Because now I know who truly cared
I also don't feel terribly scared.
I am left with only one friend
But she says she'll be there `till the end.
I hope what she says isn't a lie.
If it is, I'll surely die.
What she said was true,
We are now stuck together like glue.
I'm finally able to truly smile
As we walk, together, our toughest mile.
