The Wall
The construction started years ago,
when I was only eight.
Thats when the first brick went down,
when you first started to change.
You used to be so loving, so compassionate and nice.
Now even the smallest issue and your compassion turns to ice.
And so I started building,
and everyday is harder work.
I didn't want to build it,
but it helps me feel less hurt.
Less hurt from all the things you say,
that cut so very deep.
Less hurt from all your anger,
which is keeping me from sleep.
Everyday the wall gets bigger,
and we slowly drift apart.
The bricks and cement go down,
as your words slice through my heart.
Everytime you say "I'm sorry"
and I always say "ok".
But I really don't believe it,
your remorse has never stayed.
And so I continue building,
as you continue to be yourself.
And the wall will continuely grow,
if you don't change, or get some help.
A wall is now between us,
but there is nothing I can do.
Because no matter how hard I try,
I can't make myself trust you.
when I was only eight.
Thats when the first brick went down,
when you first started to change.
You used to be so loving, so compassionate and nice.
Now even the smallest issue and your compassion turns to ice.
And so I started building,
and everyday is harder work.
I didn't want to build it,
but it helps me feel less hurt.
Less hurt from all the things you say,
that cut so very deep.
Less hurt from all your anger,
which is keeping me from sleep.
Everyday the wall gets bigger,
and we slowly drift apart.
The bricks and cement go down,
as your words slice through my heart.
Everytime you say "I'm sorry"
and I always say "ok".
But I really don't believe it,
your remorse has never stayed.
And so I continue building,
as you continue to be yourself.
And the wall will continuely grow,
if you don't change, or get some help.
A wall is now between us,
but there is nothing I can do.
Because no matter how hard I try,
I can't make myself trust you.
