The sky in a prayer

    The sky in a prayer

The cherrytrees don't blossom in your palms
which carefully caress my lines of body,
when we make love the sky bends in a prayer.
    One of these nights,
when the sky becomes clay for our bodies
i will plant a cherrytree near your love- and prayer-tired face.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
