THE SIDE OF THE ROAD
I left my heart , by the side of the road,As i watched you cry, out in the cold.
No harm I meant to anyone, especially you,
But a voice was calling, something I had to do.
I oft times think, of our last night alone,
And wish I'd hear your voice, over the phone.
But miles of desert surround me, I can't make a call.
Wish I could kiss you, as this bullet makes me fall.
I didn't mean to kill him, I think he is dead,
I fear it my fate also, my heart bleeds hot lead.
I know he has a family, i wish it were not so,
For the man I just shot, was scared, I know!
He fired back in self defense, not wishing this to be,
I shot a man and took his life, he shot back and killed me.
No harm I meant to anyone, especially you,
No harm did he mean either, but bullets flew.
We wre both just pawns, in a larger game,
Thinking we were right, finding it was shame.
I now see this man in a new light, a brother yes it's true,
No harm we meant to anyone, especiall you!
