The Lonely Heart
Clouds come down from a cold dark sky,
Oh how my heart wishes it could die.
The thunder rumbles in the night,
My lips thin and seal tight.
Tight against an anguished cry,
I wish I could still just sigh.
To long I have waited for love to come,
My heart has become deaf, blind, and dumb.
So little left of what once was,
An empty shell I wish I was.
Empty of all pain and grief,
My heart quivers like a leaf.
Hope still burns though thin and weak,
Hot tears trickle down my cheeks.
The ache inside grows over time,
The fall gets longer every time.
Lost and lonely I will wait,
My heart ever searching for my mate.
