The Foretelling
(Based on the novel: The Fortelling by Alice Hoffman)
Please don’t leave me,
I crave your comfort!
Please don’t leave me,
My dreams have come forth!
Haunted by a black horse,
Only meaning death.
My life may have one course.
This may be my last breath.
My name means sorrow.
My journey is a test.
But maybe tomorrow,
I can fight at my best.
I would go with you,
But my people need me.
I’m not allowed to see you.
What curse could this be?
One door opens, another closes.
Why do these doors exist?
I lost Usha when I met you
And my eyes turned to mist.
My mother betrayed me,
My yellow eyes saw.
That night she participated,
Two children, one law.
No future for me,
One by fifty men.
The winter approaches,
We hide in a den.
My mother’s last breath,
At the birth of my brother.
Her infamous death,
I lost my own mother.
This curse of a child,
I’m commanded to slay!
Take care of my brother,
I ask you this day.
I fly upon a horse,
Returning to my home.
My heart fills with remorse.
My people tried to take my life, my own.
I lay my sister
In my grave.
I know I will miss her
But I shall be brave.
I shed my last tears.
I’ve chosen this day!
My journey appears,
And I’ll lead the way!
No More wars
From this day!
This is my time,
My people, my way.
(Sorry if I spoiled the book for you)
