The False Memories of You
I tried to be your everything,
I tried to make you see.
I wanted you to love me back,
I wanted us to be.
But my dream was snatched away from me,
To move on was hard to do.
I tried to look for you inside my mind,
Past all the false memories of you.
You were cruel, you had me fooled,
You were nothing but a thief.
When all's said and done you took my heart
And left me no relief.
The pain of the truth was too much to bear,
I struggled to pull through.
I couldn't get past my memories -
My false memories of you.
I can't see now how I loved you then,
The one mistake I've made.
I know you are worthless, a speck of dirt,
But what a price for you I've paid.
Now I can live with the memories,
For I know that they aren't true.
I'll forget you as I forget them all,
All the false memories of you.
