Poem Commentary

Dedicated to my Michael.

Thank You

Thank you for my memories,
For making my life come true.
You've made me smile
You've made me laugh
You've made me cry
You've made me sad
When I look back, I am glad.
You made my life come true.
You filled it with memories
Of me and you.
We have shared both sorrow and joy.
You've given me children, both girls and boys.
When I look at your grey hair
And you look at mine,
I remember when all we had was time.
You held me then, and I held you.
We hold each other still.
Thank you.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
