    Tears Of A poet...

the tears of a poet are not wet
their dripping letters waiting to set
    upon yon paper
    of a whispering vapor

    I've seen them fall
    as I recall
and not a pain was there
in its place was laughter and care
and no hurt I ever saw

    but hidden inside
    of all this pain
    was joy and sadness
from the tears of a poet
    whom somehow
    had already fortold it

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
