    Still Hoping

    When you left I thought you'd be gone just awhile-
    and you know, I've even managed a smile?
    Cause I really believed you'd be missing me too
    and somehow that helped me to not feel so blue.

    As each day slowly passed, I missed you so much-
    and I've really been longing for only your touch.
    I kept thinking that soon you would show up somewhere-
    and you'd come back to me, so I'd know you still care.

    Now months have passed and you're still gone away,
    but I still want to think that I'll see you someday.
    You see, my heart can't seem to admit you are gone-
    but the truth of the fact is - I'm sitting here alone.

    You know that my love was so strong and so true,
    and I think you knew too, that I loved only you.
    I thought it was special, what you and I had;
    but I guess you thought different, so now I am sad.

    I'm blue for the love that you once let me know;
    and I'm so lonely for you, oh why did you go?
    I miss you so much, and your sweet loving arms.
    and now living is hard without your wonderful charms.

    I still can't believe that you've left me for good;
    but if you'd told me so then, by now I might could.
    So the days are still passing and I still think of you,
    and I still keep on hoping you'll come run off the blue.

    Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
