St. Augustine, Florida
St. Augustine, Florida
He caresses my feet as I peruse tide pools
of sea anemones and blue tipped crabs.
I envy their lives with him,
while I stay on the beach
trying to piece together
broken sand dollars.
He invites me
to wade in deeper,
knowing I can't swim.
He teases me,
pushing me
back
to the beach.
Salty waves penetrate
my dry skin, as sand
and small sea shells
wash over my feet.
I lick my parched lips,
I taste only him,
I hear him,
the whispered beat
of pelican wings.
He caresses my feet as I peruse tide pools
of sea anemones and blue tipped crabs.
I envy their lives with him,
while I stay on the beach
trying to piece together
broken sand dollars.
He invites me
to wade in deeper,
knowing I can't swim.
He teases me,
pushing me
back
to the beach.
Salty waves penetrate
my dry skin, as sand
and small sea shells
wash over my feet.
I lick my parched lips,
I taste only him,
I hear him,
the whispered beat
of pelican wings.
