Smile Inside
I've flipped a chapter in my life,
and I grip it now.
I realize that I'm not fit
for shallow rivers
or sounds.
I wear a grin,
hoping that deep within
I could reach my soul
to no longer pretend.
I need to be happy.
I need to feel the joy
of a guy in a candy store
letting the little boy -
run free.
Of course, he's not
going to look crabby.
He'll have this persona
that's far from snappy.
And that's me;
that's where I want to be.
I would like my enemies
to know that when they
come for me
I'll sport a smile
that'll break the foul...
atmosphere.
My character won't be dried,
because the happiness
that I show
is deep inside.
and I grip it now.
I realize that I'm not fit
for shallow rivers
or sounds.
I wear a grin,
hoping that deep within
I could reach my soul
to no longer pretend.
I need to be happy.
I need to feel the joy
of a guy in a candy store
letting the little boy -
run free.
Of course, he's not
going to look crabby.
He'll have this persona
that's far from snappy.
And that's me;
that's where I want to be.
I would like my enemies
to know that when they
come for me
I'll sport a smile
that'll break the foul...
atmosphere.
My character won't be dried,
because the happiness
that I show
is deep inside.
