Silent Pain

Silent Pain

Days go by
Nothing but crickets sound
What I would give
To hear him speak
My big mouth
How I wish it would shut up
It got me in trouble again
But not with groundings
I lost a friend
How I let this happen
This is the worst punishment
It hurts me deep
I'm not sure I can rise
I need and want to see the blood
Run down my wrist until I die
I always seem to ruin everything
Cutting deeper until I feel no pain
No one can help me now
The only thing that'll help me rise
Is his voice saying don't

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
