Self, I Know You Not
Just when I was getting to know you, Self
And again you change and I know you not
I know not this brutality, the darkness in your heart
I know not of the nightmares that tear you part by part
I know not of the danger that oft you find you're in
I know not of the ever, constant battle deep within
But what I knew of you was truly something very sweet
That you were quiet and content and always nice to meet
That soundly was your sleep at night and early did you rise
To do your Father's bidding and look Darkness in the eyes
You were what I admired, what I thought that I would be
But now I see just what you are, that you're as weak as me
Together we must find our place where we know we belong
Far from all the earthly madness, in a gentle song
