sargasso sea

sargasso sea

found myself on a ship of fools
lost in horse latitudes
sometimes life can be so crule
often times it leaves me with a bad attitude

sargasso sea
it has a hold on me
i can't break free
sargasso let me be

i can see land
but it's beyond my out stretched hand
though i'm being beckond to that hazy distant beach
it will forever be beyond my reach

now the airs lying still
the sails that should billow refuse to fill
i'll forever be lost on this ship
caught in sargassos tentative grip

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
