Rain Drops

Rain Drops

Water falling from the sky,
Hits my umbrella like a sweet lullabye.
The gentle rhythm it creates,
Distracts me from the broken fates.
Each drop is like a broken promise that was made,
Each drop made my morbid thoughts fade.
In the middle of the road I stopped abruptly,
My face was the one thing I hoped the padestrians couldn't see.
The rain had stopped but yet I felt water on my face,
I touched it lightly and saw that tears took the rain's place.
I looked to the right and saw the lights going so fast,
I never thought that this memory would be my last.
When I saw my dead body I didnt know what to do,
But then I realized instead of silencing my morbid thoughts the rain made them come true.
Because of the sweet distractions that the raindrops gave me,
The speeding car I could not see.
But I am happy I was reborn after my saccrifice,
So without him I get to start a new life.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
