Raggedy Doll

Poem Commentary

I would have to say it clearly, this is my way of expressing how abuse feels through the eyes of my inner child.

Raggedy Doll

A raggedy doll
with zig-zag stitches,
holding
the peices together.

New scars cover old scars
a battered rag doll am
I...
I do not believe
there are enough
of these zig-zagging
stitches,
to keep all the stuffing
buried in my britches.

I am a torn apart
shredded mess,
a raggedy doll...
in a heap on the dirty floor,
no one wants to sew
together anymore....

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
