- Ma'am just so you know no the poem is not based on my life. i would never stay in an abusive relationship it is simply a problem that I wanted to express through the viewers eyes. And as far as the poem not being "well-written" the way I write is a style all it's own, and I"m sorry that you don't understand that, but I don't care for your poems style either so I guess we just come from two different generations... Peace
