When I was 8 years old, I had a vivid dream that I was reciting poetry before a huge crowd of people, but it wasn't until I was nearly 40 years old that I realized I actually had a natural God-given talent to write poetry. I like to write in almost all genres, and though I can write complex and deep poems, of the kind that Wall Street generally like to publish, I am deeply committed to writing with simplicity and clarity that the general public can enjoy. I am especially fond of nature and spiritual poetry, but also like to write nostalgic, children's, and hunorous poetry. My favorite poets are Holmes, Poe, Longfellow, Guest, and Dickinson. Of all poets, I have probably been influenced most by Dickinson, and greatly admire her style. I write mostly rhyming, but have written quite a few free verse, as well, and try to vary my styles and forms.
