New Beginning

It's a new beginning
At least I hope so.
I'm trying to change,
But I can't let go.
I feel like I'm dying
I just feel so low.
Low to the ground is the lion's approach
To that sweet juicy meat that it's trying to poach.
I feel like that meat,
All mangled and torn.
Eaten and ravaged
Ever since I was born.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
