Poem Commentary

Wrote it a while back. Love is always fun to tumble with.

My Time Machine

I have a time Machine

A beauty of technological prowess

I did not manufacture it but it sure is mine

I can use it whenever

To go back and relive my first kiss

To see colors evolve behind the lids of my eyes

As I close them ... slowly

And the world around screeches to a scringing stop.

Sometimes I rewind till I hit my first crush

The first crash between my young eyes

and the light reflected by your lovely curved lines

A day to die for

A day I lived through

One I can revisit everyday

All thanks to my time machine

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
