My Angel
This was a big weekend for my family and me
We took our first big vacation and we went to New York
I didn’t know what I wanted to do there was so much to see
When we got to the World Trade Center I was like a kid in a candy store
There was so much to do in there and I didn’t know where to start
So what do you want to do my dad says as we walk through the door
It was about 8:00 so my mom suggests that we get something to eat
Dad says that’s a good idea and we find a place to have breakfast
Mom and I are going shopping so dad comes up with a good place to meet
We are in the store looking at clothes for school when I hear the big crash
Mommy what’s going on why are people screaming what happened
Mommy screams that we need to get out of here so she says run fast
I don’t know how but we made it through the crowd and got outside
I look up and I see a plane coming into the side of the other building
Mommy I scream and I cry daddy’s not here we left him behind
He will be out safe and sound we will stay close and make sure we wait
Hours go by and still no sign of daddy and there are people crying all around
A cop tells us to go home because there is a lot to do and it’s getting late
I hear a knock at the door and when I open it a voice says is your mother home
Go in the bathroom and get washed up for dinner we will be eating real soon
I close the door behind me as I hear Miss is this your husband’s cell phone
I am so sorry miss there has been a terrible accident and your husband has died
I hear the officer say this as I come out the door to see why mommy was crying
I fell to the floor and covered my eyes I couldn’t let mommy see me cry
It’s been eight years now and I know I will never see him again and it hurts bad
If only I never mentioned the World Trade Center maybe he would be here
Mom and I got out safe that day so we had an angel and his name was Dad
