IT HAD LOST ITS GOLD SETTING, BUT IT WAS STILL A DIAMOND.  CLEAR. SPARKLING.  YELLOW IN HUE.--A 'FANCY'.  OVAL CUT. FLAWLESS!

WORTHY OF ANY KING OR QUEEN.  OR EMPEROR.  OR EMPRESS.  OR CZAR. OR CZARINA.

BUT IT HAD BEEN LOST IN THE MUCK AND MIRE OF LIFE.  TRODDEN UNDER THE FEET OF MEN, NOT RECOGNIZED FOR THE TREASURE THAT IT WAS!
