    Life on the walk-ways

    I remembered you again…today

The sun pouring its light on the dark ground

Trees lined in the pavilion gently moving its branches

    With the spring breeze

A scene of green, life on the walk-ways

And you came to mind again

    When I heard a woman’s laughter

Like music, every note in perfect pitch

And I listened in awe at what became your voice

    Moving through the pavilion

And I smiled when your face came to memory

    It’s been so long/ hearing

Your voice laughing in the breeze

Making the trees move its branches

In a dancing scene of green on this April day…

    Of life on the walk-ways

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
