Joyride
I lean back as the wind rushes
through my hair
I roll up the window
to avoid pain
As you hold tightly to the wheel
I hear the engine roar
As life rushes by more quickly
You shift again
Through the anger and tears
Taking the exit
Around the heartache and strife
You glance in the mirror
To check for insecurities and distrust
I fasten my seatbelt
As I watch you follow the curve
Of love and happiness
Again you shift
This time with promises and words
You accelerate to great speeds
of ecstasy and joy
You start slide, the rear end shakes
With doubt
You signal again with your faith
To turn
Quickly into the fast lane
Of our life and love
And when you reach our destination
Of happiness
You park and put on the brake
With a ring and a kiss
through my hair
I roll up the window
to avoid pain
As you hold tightly to the wheel
I hear the engine roar
As life rushes by more quickly
You shift again
Through the anger and tears
Taking the exit
Around the heartache and strife
You glance in the mirror
To check for insecurities and distrust
I fasten my seatbelt
As I watch you follow the curve
Of love and happiness
Again you shift
This time with promises and words
You accelerate to great speeds
of ecstasy and joy
You start slide, the rear end shakes
With doubt
You signal again with your faith
To turn
Quickly into the fast lane
Of our life and love
And when you reach our destination
Of happiness
You park and put on the brake
With a ring and a kiss
