In Silence Do I Answer
In silence do I answer
My questions not spoken aloud
But that constant clamour
Inside my mind
Always so loud and so annoying
In silence do I answer
That quest, that journey
That fork in the road of my life
The choice which anxiously demands an answer
Or simply to be made
In silence do I answer
The suggestions of the well meaning
Those souls who offer "their" paths
Which always seems so clear to them
To me seem littered with broken dreams
And energy spent
Trying to be them
In silence do I answer
And in peace do I stretch my wings
The breeze of change is warm upon my face
And it soothes my soul with its simplicity
Gently washing away my concerns
Along with my guilt and my regrets
In silence do I answer
As I confront an audience of a million me's
Each me with my own point of view
They slowly settle down, assembling into groups of similarity
Until each separate point of view melds into
A commonly accepted truth that only Unity can behold
In silence do I answer
And like a cool summer breeze or shower
Its gentle ruffle or brilliant rainbow embraces me in silent appreciation
Letting me know all is well
And that for every question there is an answer
My own answer there, in the silence.
