I Wonder?

    I Wonder?

My soul wants to be loved
but my heart hung those feelings long ago.
As I approach the end of this rope,
    where my heart dangles,
    I wonder...
    Why it's tangled so tightly?

All I want is for someone to like me,
    better yet, my soul mate,
one who's almost just like me.

    But the more I wonder...
the more I hunger for love.
It's like all I've ever wanted
has been kicked under a smothered fire.

    I wonder...
Are my desires wider than my hearts needs?

    I wonder...
Is love so blind I can't see it staring into my eyes.

    I wonder...
Am I really only a victim of my own mind?

    I wonder...

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
