I Grieve for My Sisters of Color
I Grieve For My Sisters of Color
I grieve for my sisters of color.
Too long held back because of want and lack
Too long held back because we are black.
We are women too, though our skin is different from others.
We are always struggling to help our brothers.
How long will it last? When will the injustice end?
The injustices because of the color of our skin.
I grieve for my sisters of color.
We are shades of ebony, we are black like coal.
But, that doesn’t mean we don’t have a soul.
We’re often not held in high esteem, but we must be redeemed.
Who can rescue my sisters of color?
It is God. He alone can redeem us.
He has established our worth though black is our skin from birth.
Yet, I grieve for my sisters of color.
Too long held back because of want and lack.
Too long held back because we are black.
