    I am a Soldier

    I am a soldier
I wonder when the battle will start
I hear the bullets wizzing past me
I see the enemy in the distance
I want to take him out for freedom
    I am a soldier
I pretend that all is alright
I feel i need to keep on this fight
I touch my friends who have lost their lives
I worry that I might not make it tonight
I cry that I have to take another life
    I am a soldier
I understand why I do what I do
I say that I am going to make it through
I dream that this world will soon become true
    I am a soldier.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
