How Can You Say Goodbye to a Friend?

How can you say goodbye to a friend?

    People come and go
And after a time we might say hello
Or if we see them elsewhere
Call them by name if we care

Joining the ranks of the Michaels and Billys
Is a lovely lady whose name joins the Teddis
Although what her parents did was really rotten
Teddi’s not one of the quickly forgotten

Many people claim to be friends
And fondly proclaim to be with you until the bitter ends.
But as soon as a whiff of trouble brews
They’re nowhere to be found at the bad news

Not so with Teddi, a friend true blue
A shoulder to cry on she has for you
As well as Kleenex to dry the tears
Before you know it we’ve passed through years.

Out with the old in with the new
All night sessions are nothing new
The consultants cry, “It can’t be done.”
Teddi’s cry is, “It’s just round one.”

The most joy we have all shared
Was when a secret was bared
    We’re hoping to adopt
And the most perfect baby they did spot.

Today’s the day, I’ve got to go
    I can’t even think what I don’t know
    But with her usual grit
Teddi fell right into the mommy bit.

    Many hats Teddi has worn
But the one of friendship cannot be torn
Although at your departure we all are sad
But in our hearts we are glad.

A new adventure waits for you
And we will try not to be too blue
Once in a while when you get a chance
Give us a jingle, won’t you perchance?

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
