    Holding on

    Holding on to an endless lie,
    A thorn of death in a harmless eye;
    A piece of love torn large and deep
    Rips apart my soul for keeps;
    Helping all yet helping none,
    Love unpure like the hot summer sun;
    Burning and crying with dry eyes,
    A feeling of resentment with no ties;
    How to hold a forever love,
    It is determined by a stolen dove;
    A heart once broken, broken again,
    A feeling of stoning and crushing bones
    Feeling of hatred yet harmless and whole;
    Fleeing away, a song unsung
    Holding on to an endless lie,
    A thorn of death in a harmless eye.

    The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

    Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
