    Here Comes Goodbye

I see that look in his eye

The face I’ve seen for years

    I try not to cry

Yet my vision is blurred by falling tears

I look for the brighter dawn

I’ve loved him from the very start

In his hands I’m just a pawn

    I gave him my heart

I loved him nothing else mattered

If only his feelings were the same

    My heart he shattered

This pain I will never be able to tame

No matter how hard I try

    Here comes goodbye

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
