    He Saved Me

    He saved me from the dangers of my life,
    He saved me from the people who i knew were trife;
    He fed me true stories and loved me the most,
    He stood up for me like a park post;

    He honored me as if i was his blood,
    He knew me well like a light knows a firebug;
    He saved me from the troubles of the world and at home,
    He saved me from being all alone.

    Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
