Poem Commentary

this poem is to a certain person who played with my heart :(

He Lies

Did you ever really love me?
or was that all an act?
Why was it that i couldn't see
that nothing you said was fact?

As far as I can tell
I was used. When the truth came out
my sensitive broken heart fell;
what was all that about?

You lied
I cried.
You ended it
I hurt every bit.
You know you
I thought I did too.
You lied
I cried.

Will you ever understand
that all I ever did was give to you
my love my heart?
Yet all you did was play
with my severed
fragile
messed up
broken
tear-stained
heart.
That thou hath eternally broken.

You know who you are
I'd run you over with a car.
Maybe with the next girl,
You'll think about her
before thyself, sir.

The times I have felt as you described above, is too many to count. But, now I understand that if I don't love myself enough to expect the best, I won't get it.;o)

One can so readily identify with this poem! Surely we are all "one" in our experiences though they are different stories. Thanks for writing this.

no problemo tina :)

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
