Guilt

Guilt

I can never forgive myself for the things I've done,
I am a disgrace to the living, unwanted by the dead,
I do not belong here,
I am selfish, something this world needs no more of,
The ability to break one's heart belongs to me and only I,
My fragile sanity has snapped like a twig under the pressure of this feeling,
I do not have the strength at heart to keep believing I am no harm to this world,
Hope's face no longer shines in the distance,
I am no longer even beside myself in an effort to escape,
Inside this world I do not belong...

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
