    Poem Commentary

I wrote this after I was in a car crash with a friend and he saved my life but he didn't make it. thanks for reading.

    Gone.

I see the fire in your eyes.
    A dying flame,
    I see the stormy skies.
    Yet so tame.
    I watch the blood flow,
    Like a river of love.
    More than I can know,
    But not yours up above
    You sit on the clouds,
And the moon cries for God,
This time I cry out loud
There was nothing I could do
I had to let your hand fall
I watched the life slip away
    I heeded your final call
So I live to force the sad day along
But it's so hard without you
See that line ever so green
I was never as brave as you
Even when you were hooked to the screen
But I will fight this evil inside me
And share it only with you
You are the only one I want to see
But there is nothing I can do
Now they tell me your in a better place
But I wounder where did you go
How come I can't look apon your face
    And let everyone know
But I know your sleeping in the sky
    Watching over me
    So I sit and cry
Because I don't like what you see.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
