Poem Commentary

This poem was inspired by a young lady that has befriended me and has become instrumental in my life as someone that I can laugh with and talk to about almost anything. She is ine of two of my best friends.

Friendship

FRIENDSHIP

If friendship was a woman

She would have beautiful flowing hair.

With lips of compassion

Just waiting to be kissed there.

There would be out stretched Arms

For hugging and embracing

Full of compassion for all

Full of love so amazing.

If friendship was a woman

She'd have firm and round breast,

A bosom made for heads

For all needing rest.

She'd have a lap for holding

And rocking those held dearest

Ever comforting and soothing

The ones always nearest.

This woman would have legs like steel

To stand firm and all would see,

A stride so graceful wherever she went

Getting glares and glimpses ever so magnificent.

She would be the one to be around

So happy and free

Most desired by all

And a lady she would be.

So set your sights on high

For this lady of Charm

For her name is Friendship

She will do you no harm.

I hope you like it. It is for your amusement.

Your friend for life--Billy J.

Hi Billy. This is my first read of one of poems. It constitutes a metaphor for what friendship should be. Nice write.

I appreciate you taking the time to read my poem. Your opinion is highly appreciated.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
