Would like to see where this thread leads...

So far mine hasn't gone anywhere, but I'd be willing to read & comment on yours, if you'll reciprocate.

Re: Military Poets?

Hi, we have a family that is full of vets, retired and current... Life after war and service sometimes is very tuff. I have one poem on the original poetry site, shafer, and, I will bring the others that I have written and post them to the site..... There are none that deserve more respect than our military......

Re: Military Poets?

Hey friends...
Sorry I haven't had time write more, I have been sick with a headcold and deluged by homework. Anyway, my husband SHOULD have been back by now, but he and his men keep getting bumped from flights to save the army money. Just today I found out that they got bumped once again because a brigade that has only 11 months down range took precedence over my husband's plattoon and the company. Now he will be coming back another day later. Oh well... if they push him back one more day than we will get paid extra since that means my husband will have been downrange for 16...yep..16 months. But leave it to the army to fly them out at the last possible minute just so they don't have to pay the guys extra. I think I am going to go drink some wine, and maybe get inpired to channel some of my frustration into poetry, but honestly, at the moment I am too angry to write anything. Nice to see that the army still doesn't give a real &%*($*(& about family or soldiers, even after 16 months of deployment. shut eye

Goodbye,I Love you, Take care.

Goodbye, I love you, Take care. These words echo in my ear as I stand there, surrounded by love alone. The love pushed out by others that are here too taking there moments as if they were their last. I stand there like I'm waiting for someone who is running late. Unknowing eyes falling on me like the tears streaming down my silent face as if knowing I was not really waiting for someone. Goodbye, I love you, take care. Words that echo in my ear that I'll never hear from the ones I wished, instead I remain until called. I turn and move out to the plane and climb the steps only to stop half way up and look back .Lost in hope to hear those words. Goodbye, I love you, take care. Envy filling my soul I turn back and fade away into the dark of the door way. I never heard those words I so longed to hear from the lips that love. Instead I travel on without knowing I'm not alone. Welcome to hell my mind tells me. Thanks for the memories. One more moment that shall not be forgotten. Its all over now.. Last words of the lost heart of a soldier...Goodbye, I love you, take care... goodbye.

Steven,

This poem is very, very good. You have touched a nerve that many soldiers feel. I ask that you consider posting this. Perhaps you can bring these words to another soldier getting ready to board. God bless.

Marcus

P.S. I have a poem that I wrote and recently posted titled 'A Soldier's Cost'. I would deeply appreciate any insight on this from you guys. Thanks.
Marcus
