RE: Petition to get Papa backcute, who is the elite tyrant??? Me??? I am just another poet, just another voice in the wind of reason. But I am an idea man, and I know how to put ideas into action. If someone out there has a better idea or option, we are all listening with open ears. Problem is most people don't want to fix problems, they just want to bitch, whine, and complain about them. This is the way of the masses of society and isn't much different here. I was just voicing my concern that we now have no face to OP, no one working behind the scenes to keepup the maintainence of this site and the servers, no one to be the voice of the community, no one to be a go between the owners and us the community of members. Yes I was friends with papa for better or worse, he never did me wrong. I am part of no clique, I am me, I am a looner, always have been and always will. OP is my home away from home because this is one of the first places I feel like I can be myself, and I fit in. I am always myself regardless, but I usually don't fit in, LOL. So papa is gone and perhaps whether we like it or not he is not coming back, either way we need someone to take his place or this place with very likely be history. I for one would like to have him back, no he wasn't perfect, but his name wasn't jesus either and he never claimed to be a saint and I doubt you are either. He did a good job and he kept this site running smoothly for the most part and helped it grow and prosper. Now we are ready to take it to the next level, me and wordslinger and some others have many new ideas for the future and ways to help OP grow far above expectations but we need someone to be a go between, someone to help put our ideas into action, otherwise they are just throughts in the wind... Lets keep this posititive, if anyone has anything constructive to add, than by all means say it. I never called all my friends to come and post thier thoughts, I called all of OP... The writing on the wall is clear that the OP site may fold ,if we continue to be unrealistic poets. The first edition of the anthology ought to have been sold out like hot bread, within the first week, considering the thousands of Members on the OP site , How many copies have been sold ot date Why is there no publishing of the second volume? We are heading for deep waters ! I am willing to pay an annual membership fee. Requiring a fee, as the condition for qualifying for membership is the most practical method for determining who are serious about the OP site,and to rid the site of current hangers-on. Let's pay. |

All I said was that a petition was a waste of time ( and I elaborated as to why) I never even acknowledged a fee as a possibility... but...now that we're here. I think the fee is a awful idea . As you can see there are only about 20 or so people that frequent these boards. Let's assume half of you are bullshitting about donating money.. That brings us to 10. Do you really think the owners of this site are going to keep it open just so you ten can go back and fourth commenting on each other's work? For 200 bucks annually? I think not. People will leave quickly if a fee is required to be on this site. Especially when there are free online venues available such as Facebook to post your work. I admire your optimism, but I don't believe my opinion should be deemed rude just because it isn't what you want to hear. Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
