How could an English poet get his work published in the US?

I've a number of books on my electronic shelf. I am looking for a publisher and or agent willing to take a punt on my work.. I have approx. 5 childrens picture books, one self published book and a collection of poems I am compiling at the moment.

My self published book is a semi-serious poetry book based upon my experience Parkinson's desease since I was diagnosed in 2005. I am now 49. The book is called, "The Taming of the Fork". The title relates to a time when I wanted to turn a fork over to stab my food. The command from my brain to my hand didnn't make it. The poem relates to how I regained control of my left hand.
