Poem PraisesIf people really say what they feel on comments, why do I see only good praises? Why do I see solid 10s on just about every poem? |

RE: Poem PraisesNot sure what you mean. I just don't see too much constructive criticism. I'd like to see people's honest opinion. |

RE: Poem Praisesgood bad, indifferent. I personally don't like the rating sytem at all, I think is is geared more towards populaity than based on the skill and level of one's poetry style. I would agree with you on your basic premise, many poems that are barely words upon the page are rated a perfect ten, sa la vie is what the french say about such things. I think most people are afraid of being to honest as they will offend others and scare off friends. The reasoning behind such thinking is really complicated. It is based off of the ideal of society that everyone want the truth but only if it fits into society's perfectly created box of illusions, if the truth is ugly than most people woudl rather believe a nicely created lie, this is the real truth. I call it truth with a little "t", verus truth with a capitasl "T", lol. If only everyone spoke thier real feelings and were just honest with eachother, the world would be a better place for sure, but you and I both know that will never happen. I personally am always truthful and don't always give 10's, I do try to find the positive aspects of a poem and focus on this because truthfully what will someone learn from nothing but nedgativity, people often take negative comments as a personal attack. Very few people can handle constructive critism. If I Have such critism which I do at times, I send a personal PM so that way they are less offended and don't feel like I am attacking them. Trust me not everyone here only gives tens on all comments, professor peat takes my poems and cuts them up into little pieces, lol. He gives extremely constrcutive critism, atfirst I even took it the wrong way but when I thought about it his points were valid and I tried to learn from him and over time I feel I have learned although he still refuses to admit it, lol. many people on this site are here just for a pat on the back. I also think many people rate poems based on how they feel personally rather than based on ths skill level of a poem. I think you make a great point my friend but as you and I both know it probably won't change a thing, it is a moot point, pun intended, lol. I can say this, when I read your poetry and give it a ten it is always well deserved as you are a great poet, not that I always can relate to the content of your poems, but they are always written with percision ans skill. I wouldn't worry too much about that dam contest if I was you, it is just a popularity contest, I guess we both just aren't in the in crowd just yet, lol. RE: RE: Poem PraisesAngel my friend, I totally agree with your statement. I know I have gotten many, many great praises from my friends on my work, some I think are true to what you are speaking of. I for one always appreciate my friends being honest about my work, when they are honest and give me the critic I need then it is by that I can become a better poet. If one never gets any criticism on there work and hints from friends on what would make it better then how would you ever know if you are writing great poetry or not........thanks dear for bringing up this subject.
