Saying Goodbye

Saying Goodbye

Anybody got a poem about saying goodbye and moving on?
It can be about people, places, pets, or stages of life.
But I'm looking for something sweet and nostalgic.
Any takers

RE: Saying Goodbye

No Longer

I know this love is dying.
I watch the embers fade.
Now I am but a witness
to the love we once made.
No longer will I hold you.
I wish I could erase,
The memory of painful tears.
That final end embrace.
No longer will we whisper
the words that lovers do.
No longer is there magic
in the love we once knew.
No longer will we share those dreams
we planned to make come true.
No longer can I feel the same
as I once did for you.
No longer will we quarrel.
No longer will we cry.
No longer will we pledge our love.
We'll simply say good-bye.

Hope this is what you're looking for.

RE: Saying Goodbye

Wasn't looking for something specific, just a feeling. A sad, bittersweet feeling. Thank you Bandit.

RE: Saying Goodbye

A good idea, Caity.................but, hopefully you won't have to go
through the pain of saying goodbye to your high school sweetheart....

- Go Softly -

You have to go, this we know.
So before we say goodbye,

let us hold each other close;
To feel the love we may not ever know.

Is there something more to this;
You have asked me with your kiss.

Yes, but our warm sea winds
have yet to blow.

Isn't that from one of your poems?
It sounds very familiar...
Thanks G.

RE: Saying Goodbye

I remember
The sun on the horizon
the sparkle in your eyes
next to each other, yet distant
the ocean breeze relentless

My thoughts drifted
I couldn't see our future
I felt the emptiness without you
I wanted to just reach out
hold you close forever
but your words cut
and I bled

To these cold eyes
so long ago
yet to the eyes of time
only a moment

That was the last day of us
the last time we spoke of love
the last time I felt it so strong
the last time you were truly within

Looking back at myself
I see self destruction
childhood fear
and arrogance

When I take time to remember you
I see your smile
I hear the echo of your dreams
I wanted to give them all to you

I remember the feeling
of your skin against mine
glistening in candlelight
the beat of a heart in love

That's how I see you
how I feel you still
and always will

RE: Saying Goodbye

Yeah, I thought I had read it before.
Well, not much. Just graduation.

RE: RE: Saying Goodbye

I thought you were a freshman at Harvard.
Let's see...

Goodbye my love, I'll miss your snoring
Take your cat and pictures with you
I found your presence way too boring -

I cannot say I'll miss you my friend
You nagged at me all night and day
Now, get out of here, for it's the end.

RE: Saying Goodbye

Hardly.
I doubt I'd ever get near Harvard.
Ah, a little sad, but mostly humorous. I like it.

RE: Saying Goodbye to a Wilted Love

WILTED LOVE

Love wilts.
Thank God!
It’s good for you!
If it didn’t wilt,
What then?
Would you?
All things end
No matter
What we do.
Lovers die
Or leave
And so do you.
So buck up, Chuck!
It’s not untrue
To allow
What’s here
And now
To clear
The ash of
Grand Romance
That flew.
That's just
What NOW's
Supposed
To do!
Clinging
Is what's
Hurting you.

RE: Saying Goodbye

Gosh you guys are some romantics.
Im graduating in a week, so I was thinking maybe something nostalgic and grand, lol. But I couldn't write a single thing. So I was wondering what you guys thought.

RE: Saying Goodbye

Well Caity, it should be more along this train of thought....

Graduation is in the air,
And soon we’ll have to part.
Let me hold your hand,
As I listen to your heart.

We’ve known each other
For too few years of this.
I’ll treasure your warmth --
Remembering heavenly bliss

But, now we have to go
from here…
To some other place in time;
Please, go now, let me cry.

I’ll never see you as you are,
For you’ve many hills to climb.
Goodbye my high school love
We’ll meet again,
in the stars --
Above.

blank stare

RE: Saying Goodbye

Okay Caity, here's my shot:

GRADUATION DAY

Someday when we’re all far from here
And some of us have died
I know we’ll hold this time more dearly
Knowing clearly why we cried.

When I walk the graduation line this spring
Recalling all the friends I’ve made
Knowledge gained and insights gleaned
The walls where my attention falls
Will not be walls of ivy green,

They’ll be those walls where portraits call
Me back to other’s pasts and deeds
That none recall and no one’s seen
Burnished up in magazines.

But I’ll stand tall because I’ve seen
For some this is the “last harrah”.
Aspirations seeming pure and clean
Have ways of turning in midstream
Or crashing while still in our dreams.

I’ll drink to grads lost in the past
The last and lost ones (so it seems),
Because this ray of sunlight beams:
“They are also Holy Beings”.

It's time to say my graduation poem
So close to you, I never felt alone
We shared the music best of our young years
we gossiped, listened, cried, and laughed 'til tears
ran down our grades and made us concentrate
on homework and the times of great debate
like compounds in the lab of Chemistry
when class was fun, but mostly 'cause of We
But now, we say, adieux, 'til then and when
I've so enjoyed the chance to be your friend

RE: Saying Goodbye

Hey, that was neat. I like it!

Poetry is what gets lost in translation.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
