Getting your new poem noticed

RE: Getting your new poem noticed

I would have to agree with Mr.Bear. In the time I have been on this site, which has been since the start of the year, I have noticed a lot of courtesy comments. I have also experienced the 'cold shoulder', if you will.
What I think is a greater tragedy is that some people write comments that just are not truthful or write a comment about a poem that in all honesty just isn't that good but that person commenting will write that it is good anyway.
Any time someone comments on my work that is all I expect is honesty. If you think it's crap say so. Believe me I'll be the first to say so on someone elses.
Okay...I wouldn't really say there work was crap..but I would give some constructive opinions. That is all..Thank you

RE: Getting your new poem noticed

I am so grateful for the kindness of the poets on originalpoetry.com. I have gotten comments where the critic encourages me to view specific poems on their page that are similare or somehow respond to the poem I had posted. The fact that they take the time to comment, share constructive feedback and reference their own work and how it may be something I'd enjoy, make me WANT to go read their work. I try to randomly just read new posts and comment on them. I hope that this will attract some movement to my own work. So far, it's been pretty slow in getting anyone to notice my work, but when they do it means so much to me. I find that people are honest. No one usually says "that poems crap" but they might say "I've read several of your poems and this one just doesn't speak to me like the others do, not one of your better peices of work."oh oh

How's it going Merlyn, Mustascheman, and ListninEar .. also an "unspoken common courtesy" is for Poets to leave a comment on other Poets work before asking for a comment. In most cases the Poet being asked .. after having their work commented on is appreciative and returns the favor without being asked. There's nothing that can equal "common courtesies" between artistic Poets!

RE: Getting your new poem noticed

I believe that poems will be heard because of that quiet destiny which unites....so I would say forgo contrived petty notices and just let it be.....

That is, lol, if it's quality......

...What I'm saying is that like the deep breath that we draw from the air without knowing it's particular molecular adventures (of nitrogen, oxygen etc.) ...

It's the same with art and talent.....you'll get it.

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
