Critique

Hey everybody, I feel evil right now.

I comment on poetry, and instead of saying "Oh, beautiful" and that stuff...

I find what I don't like, and point it out.

The poems are not in the Critique my poetry forum.

Should I follow the:

A) "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all" rule,
or the

B) "Do as others as you would to yourself" rule
(I like to better myself as a poet so I readilly accept wrongs, as long as I get specifics.)

cool grin

RE: Critique

RHPeat has a thread on the forum about how to write an honest critique...it is well worth the time to read and consider. His posts are under "School of Poetry" and "working toward the sonnet."

RE: Critique

I, for one, JP, would never leave a negative comment on anybody's
poem...nor would I give a rating of nothing less than a 10. We are not
qualified to be a critic, and besides, it would only do harm to the poet's
struggle to create. My thinking is that if one doesn't like a poem because
of the rhyming, or the awkwardness of meter, then walk away from it................

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.
