RE: RE: The Annoying I LIKE IT Button (anyone?)Quote: I too have never just hit that "I like It" smutten button. I do, only after I comment and rate it. I wish OP would remove it........makes no sense having it. |

RE: The Annoying I LIKE IT Button (anyone?)I am glad some poets understand |

RE: RE: The Annoying I LIKE IT Button (anyone?)I don't think we thought about the ramifications of the Like with the contest when we put it in. |

RE: The Annoying I LIKE IT Button (anyone?)Personally, I think that it adds another chance to prove that you do like the poem. Put instead of having both the "I LIKE IT" button and the "add to favorites" button, we might combine the two, just so that if you really care enough to hit the "I LIKE IT" button, then obviously you care enough to read it again at another spot in time. Again this is just me, and my weird ways of thinking. |

RE: RE: RE: The Annoying I LIKE IT Button (anyone?)Papa, if one likes a poem, then they will make that known by Quote:

So maybe we need to make it settable per poem. I'll talk it over with the team here to see what we can do. Again, thank you all for your input. -Papa Paczki |

RE: The Annoying I LIKE IT Button (anyone?)The I like it button does kind of put you on the spot. If you like it push and comment if not ,it is ok to be honest about it. Some poems are just ok, while others are great. I would certainly understand. I appreciate all of you and any comment you make on mine . It is how you feel. Of coarse we must all follow the rules. Most any negitive comment I have read have been in very good taste. Ladies and gentlemen great Job. I appreciate everything I have learned from all of you. There are some really wonderful people on this site.Betty |

RE: The Annoying I LIKE IT Button (anyone?)I agree with the like button being a bit of a cop out. Anyone willing to stick around on this site should have it within them to explain what it is that they like about a poem. At the same time I use it more like it's a flare of some sort. Signaling other poets to a poem worthy of reading. Or finding one for that matter. When a friend likes a poem it shows up on your friend's recent activity list. Making it easier to sift out the junk. No offense. |

RE: The Annoying I LIKE IT Button (anyone?)All good and valid points! I confess to using the ILI button like a flag drawing my attention for a read, however I always leave some comment. * I did want to mention that I received a private note from someone once saying that while they themselves knew nothing about poetry and felt uninformed about what specifically was good...they still knew what they liked when they read it, and could indicate so without risk of embarrassment. No threat factor is my guess... Well, papa this is a tough one to sort out..good luck! |
When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
