Opinion on free form or all forms of poetry to gain insight on others.I'm am curious about other peoples ideas of poetry. Where the feeling comes from, if your poems are driven by emotion alone, was there a traumatic experience, or like me just writing what the voices in your head tell you to? |

RE: Your comment about hearing voices in your head ...I do not hear *audio* voices in my head... but I do think choices ... and like a movie premiere, I watch... attempting to understand the consequence of my behavior in each scenario. |

RE: Opinion on free form or all forms of poetry to gain insight on others.depends on which voice I'm listening to that day, as to what topic I decide to write on. Is it that incredibly sexy voice, that drives me out of my mind saying write something for me baby... or is it my own voice saying, hmmm what I nice bible story, I should be inspired to write about that... |

RE: Opinion on free form or all forms of poetry to gain insight on others.Hmmm...great question. Well, for me it can be anything that begins a poem. Sometimes its a conversation that I've had. It also happens from listening to music, reading the Bible, articles, looking at nature. It could be just about anything! Sometimes its everything and nothing at all. Sometimes its just as simple for me as picking up the pen and something just does happen. An out of body experience and the words just begin to poor out onto the page. And then TADA... a poem is born! |

RE: Opinion on free form or all forms of poetry to gain insight on others.Thank you for contributing. Your answers are certainly interesting. They also are starting to prove what I suspected, writing poems can be quite personal. Although themes can be similar, the content is unique and individual. Thanks again. |

RE: Opinion on free form or all forms of poetry to gain insight on others.J- I'm sure there are others but you are only the second person that I have encountered here that claims to work on a single poem for more than a day. I find that most interesting. To have that much invested in one work to me is mind bottling, yes mind bottling, you know like when your thought are racing and get trapped ..like in a bottle. Anyway..I know I do not have the patience to write that way. If there is something in my head it drives me mad until I get it out. Sometimes I can write something in a matter of minutes other times an hour but never more than that, unless I'm writing a short story. Thanks for the insight and response, talk at ya' later, A.T. |
To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
