TURN ON THE CHRISTMAS TREE

Inside from the winter mean
with the scent of the evergreen
Holly and apples, natural things
Turn on the Christmas tree
See its enlightment, its powerfulness
A great electric wonderment
Like those child eyes with fascination
Discovering the joy, embracing,
of winters celebration
Ornaments with colorings of life
referring the fullness of grace
Feel its warmth, it’s comforting in place
It’s a part of the Christmas heart
Turn on the Christmas Tree
Home ever more sweetly art

ANOTHER POEM OF CHRISTMAS



Is Christmas the twenty fifth day of December
Packaged in hope that some may remember
A gift that was given by shopping in haste
The fragrance of memories now laid waste

Akin to lovers, the sight-driven season
Strewn with tragedies sparring with reason
Make up and break up, repetitive fate
And addiction-torn families, battling hate

The glad time invites bad times
It’s just human nature
Seems greed wins o’er good
A time-old sure wager.

So what of the giving and singing
Such bright giving of gifts
Cheerful laughing and the ringing
Of bells over snow drifts

Is there loving to stop the shoving
From the “I, me, mine” crowd
Find the message in the madness
Call His name out loud

Is the Name such a mystery
In the centuries gone by
See the timeline of history
He still calls you and I

Born a human in a manger
To be the lamb-sacrifice
He was holy and the only
To be worthy of this price.

Truly wise men who lived then
Traveled half a world away
Reading star’s song in the heavens
To find a Babe laid in hay

He’s the one King born of Prophecy
The kingdom not of this world
It stretches beyond mind’s grasp
As the Universe uncurls

For the faithful and forgiven
There’s a table set for kings
Where humble and halt bear
The Name the cherubim sing



I stand in the uwaivering conviction that Jesus Christ is the only viable reason for Christmas. (It's not the date, but celebrating the advent of God walking this earth as a man to show grace and truth )
And now, I can say, A very Merry Christmas to all who care to know the season, and gift of lifetimes. Marck

Here's a parody of the classic, Silver Bells. It was not written to disparage the wonder of Christmas Day. But comedy relief is akin to medicine for the 'sold', that's why the vernacular, Xmas day, is used as the commercial rendering, to contrast the spiritual signifigance of the origin, which is the Christ of Christmas.

Silver Fell (as sung to the melody of Silver Bells)

City sidewalks, as your eyes sock
Run in holiday style
In your head, there’s a reeling
From Xmas

See the kids munch
On a cold lunch
Is this Santa’s great Scheme
Amid all the hustle, you fear

“Pay the bills, credit kills,”
Its judgment time for your checkbook
Ring-a-ling, too much bling
Too soon it will be Xmas day

Take the cold side of a sleigh ride
Just forget all the rest
It’s said, “No escaping from Xmas”

Where’s the snail mail
As your arms flail
In bright red and green
There’s a feeling, like the taste of bad beer

“Pay the bills, credit kills,”

Upon you now, it’s Xmas day

So you dig in to your snow bin
As you’re panting a while
Questioning gifts stashed
For Xmas

You awaken from mistaken
Thoughts from afar
You’re assessing your tactics, so drear

Silver bells, never tell
This Xmas to have any pity
Hedge your bets, in cold sweats
Your wallet bleeds Xmas day

They’re too far now
Need a snow plow
A head full of bunk
It’s all packed, in the car’s frozen trunk!

Silver fell, Market sell
It’s a crap shoot, precious metal looks gritty
Lost your keys, got to sneeze
Common cold on an uncommon day

Soon you’ll be moving away
Economy looking so grey
The bewildered get out of your way
Sounds like the right time to Pray!!

"Advent"

Look to the light
As twilight falls
Those hallowed times
In stable stalls
The risen one
Brings life to all

A river runs
It's given course
While flowing freely
From the source

Of all...

Look to the light
As dark descends
The world we know
In blindness tends
To overlook
What love extends

To us, unworthy
Sheep who cry
The shepherd hears
Our troubled sigh

Here's a poem for Christmas:

Believe

twinkle frosty night
dipper all aglow
stardust drifts below
arms reach up to sky
moon drifts into view
beckons those on earth
to sing songs of mirth
echo- midnight croon

tannenbaum so green
towering up above
purest whitest dove
perched upon a limb
pinecones don the tree
gentle breeze unveil
platinum moon so pale
unspoken poem of glee

mystical legends, theories
poets, muses, sages
messages penned through ages
until great news was spread
miracle, (gift from God)
to virgin Mary’s arms
infant hid from harm
inn in Bethlehem

snowfall coats the earth
this holiest of days
child born to amaze
cleanse souls that forsake
alleluia heard on high
angelic song sublime
echoes for all time
celebrate their king

Christmas tidings plenty
snowy blustery night
stockings hung by firelight
kitchen smells so sweet
flavors to be savored
nuts, oranges, mincemeat pie,
breads, puddings, to espy
await holiday feast

A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol on the trail
Ride on the sleigh and share your prize
Earwhilst for the child and scene till lights
Bid her kiss and hand her the throbe.

Run goes the donkey on the trail
Throbe on the sleigh and run goes she
Beanier freighter and next time you write
With wildberry shoes she sealed the road.

The asbestos roof is heavy with frost
With plank on both hands she let a shriek
Obliging child leaves a hoovering owl behind
Doors now bolted shut for the solstice chills.

A Christmas Carol of the past
Brings memories now soon to last
Next year who'll fit in
A Christmas Carol here.

What Christmas Is All About

Anticipation begins and gradually kicks in,
While shopping days wane and disappear.
Excitement blends in and slowly transcends,
As tradition and good tidings reappear.

Children grow restless, as school days dwindle,
Their lists continue to grow.
Moms and Dads spend and find ways to rekindle,
The holiday spirit they know.

Houses are decorated inside and out,
Trees find new ways to glisten.
Mistletoe hangs and stories come out,
As eager ears strain to listen.

December days mount, while parents recount,
Past memories of gifts and toys.
Yuletide ghosts greet the heavenly host,
Through time spent together, love and joy.

These days it seems, not everyones' dreams,
Are packaged and adorned with bows.
Those bereft means go to extremes,
Just to have food, shelter and warm clothes.

This winter's eve, try to conceive,
Of those with no gifts to give out.
Help children believe, to give is to receive,
It's what Christmas is all about.

From Manger To Cross

Once upon a time, many years ago,
A very special child was received.
He was born in a manger with no place to go,
His future and purpose preconceived.

The birth was foretold, by generations old,
In books and psalms from afar.
Those that bore witness had come to behold,
A miracle proclaimed by a star.

Man's future lay, swaddled in hay,
His mission, transgressions to bear.
Surrounded by animals, shepherds and Kings,
With good tidings and gifts brought to share.

Do you suppose that there were those,
That knew who this child would soon be?
The living word, the one that arose,
Sent here to save you and me.

That night in a stable, a child proved able,
To inspire all nations to pray.
A story was cast, one sure to last,
It was proclaimed a glorious day.

Years went past but few people asked,
What became of that fortunate Son?
A man came forth and performed great tasks,
That inspired and astounded everyone.

As it turned out, many learned about,
His ability to heal and foresee.
His fan base grew and many soon knew,
That this was the child of prophecies.

He taught how to give, to love and forgive,
Performed a miracle or two.
He set an example for people to live,
Through suffrage, abuse and solitude.

One day a friend, one loyal to the end,
Pointed him out in a crowd.
Those that he served had forsaken him,
Admonished and cursed him out loud.

He was sentenced die, for no reason why,
He carried his burden upon his back.
His head was adorned with a crown of thorns,
He never complained of what he lacked.

He struggled at times, but managed to climb,
The hill where his cruel fate had led.
He was nailed and tied for committing no crime,
People watched as his hands and feet bled.

They lifted him there, up into the air,
On a cross firmly fixed in the ground.
All he could bear was to suffer and stare,
As onlookers gathered all around.

Many souls left, bereaved and bereft,
Unable to watch or comprehend,
Those that stayed, silently prayed,
That his suffering would eventually end.

When his time came, he offered no blame,
He asked only his Father forgive.
"They knew not their sins or where to begin,
To atone for the lives that they live".

As he died, all mankind cried,
At that moment it began to sink in.
This was that child that years ago lie,
Swaddled with the burden of sin.

That hallowed day, far, far, away,
On the eve of man's eternal cost.
Was when it began, the first Christmas day,
Jesus journey from manger to cross.

Two thousand ten years ago,
Heaven reached down to earth.
Everyone there would come to know,
Freedom through one single birth.
Irrespective of color or creed,
Rebirth was offered to all,
Serving witness were Shepherds and Kings,
Transfixed on a child in a stall.
Never before in man's history,
On that first Christmas eve.
Eternal life's solved mystery,
Lay free to those who believe.

The story of Christmas began with a miracle,
and God's extraordinary
hand can still be seen at work today...

Starry Starry Night




Magicians snowed from high back on the balcony,
fill the tuxedo-ed and candied gallery,
in their craft they mill down front inexorably
bejeweling a touch on honey smooth mahogany
as they trim on tuck to tune the color audibly.

A mint green hush adorns the Savior fair,
red satin plush hint of complexity garlands the square,
white inlaid wreath of sanctity gilds his complex affair,
a great hall of oral divinity's exquisitely orquestral flair,
as the sanguine night's symphony begins to move the air.

Gilded nymphs and angels swoon hover near and revive,
their swirling starry choral lights laugh light our eyes
expectant wait and watch oer while on their wings alive
a babe born dear dawn to dusk is our nativity's guise
amazing graces Jesus lights, our's now, arrive
